Education, Teaching Philosophy...
I graduated from the St.Petersburg State University of Arts and Culture with a Masters Degree in Music Education and Choral Conducting. Over 25 years of teaching experience in Russia and America has allowed me to establish a solid piano teaching method which combines advances of Russian traditional method and new approaches. It has proved to be very effective with a wide variety of students, according to their abilities, goals and music style preferences.
I love teaching and am dedicated to pass on my knowledge, experience and love for music. I am caring and very patient with students. My focus is on achieving the best results through enjoyment, fun and love for music while learning to play piano.
I strive in my teaching to develop and improve in each student love and appreciation for music and piano as their instrument. That is why I never force my piano students to study and play any certain music style pieces, but follow student's interests and preferences. I learned from my many years of experience that when students are inspired by a particular piece or song, they improve much better and faster.
I teach students to interpret the music that they play and to develop the appropriate touch and feel for music of different composers and styles. I aspire to help students to find a productive and enjoyable ways to practice independently.
I enjoy teaching different ages as each individual is very unique. I learn a lot from my students while teaching them, whether it is a 75 year old or a 5 year old. There are endless opportunities for me as a piano teacher to explore this special field of teaching music and piano playing.
